Dreamscape
By Melian Guilfoyle

Sitting
under the shadow of the oak’s
Antwerp blue leaves,
I am lost in thought
as I watch the
intermittent
squirrels
skipping on silver-green rocks.

The river flows, all
mauves and pinks
and gold,
on its way to the lives
of resplendent albatross,
while an eider
of egyptian colours
rests among the rushes
dreaming silky waves.

I close my eyes and see flowers,
black flowers swaying in the wind,
satin caressed by the gods

The Seafarer
By Melian Guilfoyle

Response to Leah Piken Kolidas’s painting (above)

The light delicately draws
the silhouette of an icon,
gold against blue.
Its opalescent dance
caresses my weary eyes.
And suddenly, I hear
a waft of music in the wind.
Scorching tears paint my face
as a rush of gratefulness
washes over me.
